2009 Côte-Rôtie, Côte Blonde, Réné Rostaing

In the glass this wine has an intense, deep purple appearance. A nose of crushed granite and mineral again fills the glass, complemented by candied violet and lavendar. On the palate there is stunning purity, freshness and huge mouthfeel, which are all perfectly delineated and wholly complementary. Instantly absorbing, this wine shows a perfect balance of weight, concentration, elegance and a delicate lightness of touch. Syrah really does not get much better than this.

2009 Côte-Rôtie, Côte Blonde, Réné Rostaing
Domaine René Rostaing

A master in his field, René Rostaing is an anomaly. While his wife inherited some of the finest plots in the Côte-Rôtie, he initially elected a career in real estate, though he gradually spent more time making wine until he took it on full time in 2000. With 7.5 hectares of prime land, he blends the best of traditional and modern techniques in the vineyard and cellar, producing terroir-driven wines. René has recently been joined by his son, Pierre, whose first vintage in control was 2015.
