2007 Gigondas, Font de Tonin, Domaine la Bouïssière

The only disappointing thing about this wine is the volume - Font de Tonin represents just 10% of overall production. The fruit seems deeper in nature than the Domaine's traditional cuvée, with a creamy accent on account of the greater proportion of new oak employed (18%). There is a blueberry quality on the palate, ripe, juicy and expressive, with creamy swirls of loganberry too. Garrigue characters come through, with a hint of lavender even. Vibrant, layered and intense, there is a scented lift to fruit throughout and impressive freshness. Superb Gigondas.

2007 Gigondas, Font de Tonin, Domaine la Bouïssière
Domaine de La Bouïssière

High up in the foothills of Les Dentelles de Montmirail, brothers Thierry and Gilles Faravel are fortunate to have one of the most favourable vineyard sites in the appellation. Their high-altitude setting benefits from a cooler climate which allows the grapes to mature more slowly and develop more complex flavours. The results are expressive wines with great finesse, alongside an unmistakable Gigondas grip.
