2000 Côte-Rôtie, René Rostaing

René Rostaing’s philosophy for this cuvée is that in using fruit from both the Côte Brune and the Côte Blonde he represents the character of côte-rôtie in its entirety. In the glass a deep purple colour. There is almost a rustic bramble character on the nose, which is followed through in the mouth with ripe, warm summer pudding flavours and tannins which give harmony and structure. There are surely few better wines to show the sheer class of the appellation.
