2014 Chablis Grand Cru La Moutonne, Domaine Long Depaquit

‘Brooding’ is probably the best word to describe Long-Depaquit’s famous monopole in 2014. With plenty of swirling come aromas of stone fruit, spice and smoke, whilst on the palate there is huge extract and a silky concentration not found in the other grand crus.

2014 Chablis Grand Cru La Moutonne, Domaine Long Depaquit
Albert Bichot (Clos Frantin and Long Depaquit)

Founded in 1791, this domaine’s château remains the most impressive in Chablis. Now owned by Beaune-based house Albert Bichot, and benefitting from the expertise of Technical Director Alain Serveau, this is a Chablis domaine on the rise to the top of the appellation. La Moutonne is the wine that the estate is best known for, a monopole in the heart of the Grands Crus, between Vaudésir and Les Preuses. It’s in a natural amphitheatre where the wines can reach stunning ripeness for the region.
