2011 Chablis 1er cru Montée de Tonnerre, Samuel Billaud

The 2011 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre is vibrant and focused in the glass. Lemon, slate, crushed rocks and green pears are woven together nicely. This is a decidedly bright, nuanced Chablis with gorgeous inner perfume and terrific overall balance. A hint of oak lingers on the nuanced finish. The 2011 was made from parcels in Chapelots and Montee de Tonnerre itself. Roughly 15% of the wine was aged in demi-muids, the rest was done in steel.
