2024 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères, Marc Colin et Fils

2024 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères, Marc Colin et Fils

This vineyard straddles the village boundary between Puligny and Chassagne and is well regarded as a top-flight village parcel, with the likes of Coche-Dury also producing a single vineyard cuvée from this site. Its position just beneath Bâtard-Montrachet goes a long way to explain its superior quality. It is detailed, lacy and precise. The 70-year-old vines in this parcel deliver wonderfully sophisticated and complex fruit; its ageing potential for its village status is astounding. Treat this like a premier cru, and don’t hesitate to hold for ten years if you can resist.

Tasting notes

The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignières comes from a single parcel - just three barrels this year. There was a bit of reduction on the nose when I tasted it at the Domaine. The palate is well balanced with a tangy entry, fine acidity that cuts through the red apple and pithy pear fruit. Lightly spiced on the finish. This is a rather compact yet promising Puligny.

Two barrels made, no new wood. Pale in colour, much more reductive in the nose. Strongly citrus infused on the palate, quite long, perhaps just a little lean, and finishes on a smoky reduction. Drink from 2028-2032. Tasted Oct 2025.
