2024 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles, Jean-Claude Bachelet et Fils

2024 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles, Jean-Claude Bachelet et Fils

The Bachelets have four parcels in this premier cru, the oldest of which were planted in 1927 and 1960. It carries the superb concentration of old-vine fruit, with juicy pineapple intensity. Harmonious, deep and precise.

Tasting notes

The 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Macherelles 1er Cru is a clear level up from the preceding Les Encegnières with greater clarity, mineralité and terroir expression. There is a touch of earthiness but the fruit seems to bubble up with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with fine acidity. Finely balanced, this Chassagne is imbued with a lilting quality even if it needs just a bit more cut on the finish.

A pretty pale lemon and lime. Quite delicate in bouquet, floral and light white fruit. Not enormously rich on the palate but it treads lightly and well. Medium bodied, fair length, an elegant Macherelles. Drink from 2030-2035. Tasted Oct 2025.
