2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères, Marc Colin et Fils

Strictly limited to 6 bottles per customer

This vineyard straddles the village boundary between Puligny and Chassagne and is well regarded as a top-flight village parcel, with the likes of Coche-Dury also producing a single vineyard cuvée from this site. Its position just beneath Bâtard-Montrachet goes a long way in explaining its superior quality. It is detailed, intricate, lacy and precise. The 70-year-old vines in this parcel deliver wonderfully sophisticated and complex fruit; its ageing potential for its village status is astounding. Treat this like a Premier Cru, and don’t hesitate to hold for ten years if you can resist.

Tasting notes

The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignières has a fragrant, finely delineated bouquet with a touch of white flowers filtering through the orchard fruit. The palate is very harmonious with a keen line of acidity. Just a touch of chamomile comes through in tandem with stem ginger. The finish is sprightly and spicy, finishing on a high. This has the edge over Le Trezin.

Mid lemon yellow, quite floral without becoming exotic. There is a razor sharp backbone here, supporting the charming elegance of the white fruit, backed up with a little oak. Beautifully put together. Drink from 2027-2030. Tasted Oct 2024.
