2023 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Grandes Ruchottes, Alex Moreau

Cellar Circle Exclusive

There is a greater richness of fruit from this site, pears and a fleshier citrus touch. A pleasure to taste, with rich, elegant layers of exuberant fruit and lightly spiced notes giving freshness and balance.

Tasting notes

The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Grands Ruchottes 1er Cru had just been racked at the time of this tasting. It has a very expressive bouquet with citrus fruit, lemon curd and crushed stone scents that gain intensity in the glass. The palate is well balanced and poised, with a touch of white pepper on the finish. This is a multi-faceted Chassagne.

Racked and returned. A touch of oak but no denying the fruit concentration beneath. Very nicely poised, a greater richness of fruit from this site, pears, ripe apples, and a sunnier citrus touch. Fair concentration at the back, and length. Drink from 2030-2036. Tasted Nov 2024.
