2023 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Alex Moreau

Cellar Circle Exclusive

The west-facing aspect of the hill means the vines enjoy the long rays of the afternoon sun, making for rich textures and a sumptuous depth of fruit. A pleasure to taste, with rich, elegant layers of exuberant fruit and lightly spiced notes giving freshness and balance.

Tasting notes

The 2023 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru from the Ladoix side presents a precise bouquet, mineral-driven with impressive depth and scents of yellow plum and jasmine emerging over time. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, fresh and saline, building beautifully toward a slightly nutty finish. This is one of my favorite wines from the famous hillside.

Purchased as grapes on the Ladoix side, indeed they harvest themselves at their date of choice. Attractively perfumed, pure white fruit without any exotics, underlying mineral though less than the Pernand side might offer, some generosity and certainly persistence. Un racked. Drink from 2029-2036. Tasted Nov 2024.
