2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Mazures, Domaine Paul Pillot

2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Mazures, Domaine Paul Pillot

This well-positioned village parcel, just below Les Champs-Gains, certainly merits being singled out. The soil has lots of little limestone pebbles, and this wine is zippy and lively, with a pleasing volume of fruit in 2022. It’s a suitably impressive Chassagne from one of the most exciting growers here.

Tasting notes

Tasted after the regular Chassagne-Montrachet, a thing of beauty in its own right, one wonders if Mazures can improve on that? Yes! A gorgeous fresh bouquet, even more energy than the regular almost edible with a reinforced creamy texture on the palate, then such a fresh finish. An extra on all levels. Drink from 2027-2033. Tasted: November 2023.
