2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Truffière, Jean-Marc Boillot

2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Truffière, Jean-Marc Boillot

This is one of the finest sites in Puligny. It has some of the poorest soil in the village, and the wines it produces often soar to another level, 2022 being no exception. It has a cool, steely, mineral style, and a delicious bitterness, like that of freshly sliced pink grapefruit. It’s concentrated, showing impressive linear attack to the acidity, continuing right through the long, saline finish.

Tasting notes

More lemon than lime in the colour. More fruit than flowers in the bouquet. A slightly richer style of wine this year, with just enough tension behind, but these days the site is riper than in the past. There is certainly plenty of wine here. A more muscular Puligny. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted: October 2023.
