There are many who consider Bachelet’s Blanchot-Dessus on a par with its grand cru neighbours, Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet and Le Montrachet. The vines were planted in 1927, and the old-vine wine is nothing short of epic in 2020.
The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Blanchot-Dessus 1er Cru has a crisp, refined bouquet featuring finely chiseled crushed rock aromas along with hints of orange blossom, wild peach and a touch of jasmine; the oak here is nicely integrated. The palate is very well balanced with a spicy entry and modest depth, turning quite linear toward the finish, which just needs a little more edge and nervosité. Fine.
