2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières, Alain Chavy

2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières, Alain Chavy

This is arguably the most famous and celebrated of Puligny’s premiers crus, whose chalky soils have produced some of the finest bottles of white Burgundy ever. It stands out in the line-up for its floral nose. The palate shows some fruity depth. Distinctly Puligny.

Tasting notes

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet les Folatières 1er Cru has an expressive bouquet with green apple, wet limestone and light kiwi fruit scents. This is nicely focused and has more energy than the Pucelles. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite poised and harmonious towards the finish that needs more mineralité. Maybe I was seeking a little more verve and tension.
