Unlike the rest of the Lafarge vineyards which were picked earlier than ever in August, their Aligoté was picked on 16th September. The warm late summer weather meant the 85-year-old vines’ development was blocked, and it wasn’t until mid-September that the grapes had reached the 12.8% alcohol. Waiting for this was a masterstroke, as the fruit developed a superb phenolic complexity, and this Aligoté is bright, dry, incisive and textural. The small golden-skinned berries of the ‘raisins dorés’ clone have produced a richness and incredible energy.

The 2020 Bourgogne Aligoté Raisins Dorés has a light bouquet with touches of yellow flowers and jasmine. The palate is fresh on the entry with a slightly waxy texture, fine acidity with a pithy finish. Fine.
