You can really feel the character of the poor stony soil found in Puligny here with its floral delicacy and racy edge. It has a piercing intensity accompanied by a tenderness of fruit on the finish, so enticing, with a lacy structure and wonderful definition.
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Champs Gains 1er Cru is tightly wound on the nose with Golden Delicious, flint and chalk dust aromas, gaining intensity in the glass. The palate is well balanced, quite sapid, a Puligny that gets the saliva flowing with quite an intense and persistent finish. A boisterous and engaging Puligny that should cellar well for a decade or more.
