2020 Bourgogne Chardonnay, Michel Bouzereau

2020 Bourgogne Chardonnay, Michel Bouzereau

The fruit for this blend comes from three sites in Meursault (making up 60%), with the remainder from a single plot in Puligny. In spite of their Bourgogne classification, these sites are high quality, knocking on the door of village level, with shallow topsoil and lots of small stones, aiding drainage. It is a Bourgogne full of lemony freshness and delicious energy.

Tasting notes

Racked at the beginning of August, the 2020 Bourgogne Blanc is 50% raised in demi-muids. It has an expressive, quite endearing nose with tropical tones, touches of orange pith and passion fruit. The palate is well balanced with wild peach and light tangerine notes, fine acidity, maybe just a little warmth towards the finish, therefore I would broach this over the next 2-3 years.
