The cuvée is named after Damien and Caroline’s grandmother, Lucie, whose nickname was ‘Luce’. Its personalised moniker hints at how fond the family are of this wine, which is a blend of three parcels in the village. It has a deliciously fleshy concentration, peaches and nectarines. Some pithy texture beneath holds it all together. A great showing.

Tasting notes

The 2019 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru is more exhibitionist on the nose compared to other cuvées with overt tropical notes of passion fruit, guava and citrus peel. The bouquet is well balanced with tempting orange pith and yellow plum notes. In this vintage I am more taken with the La Chatenière or Sous Rouche Dumay that are both more classic in style.

The 2019 Saint-Aubin Village "Luce", a blend of three plots and raised in 15% new oak, has a taut, crushed stone and smoke-tinged bouquet that unfolds gently from the glass. The palate is well balanced with a pleasant bitter lemon trait on the entry, very precise and energetic towards the citrus-driven finish. A perfect introduction to the domaine.
