This is one of few prestigious whites of the Côte de Nuits, and comes from one of the estate’s two monopole vineyards. Clos de l’Arlot is the steep, walled, amphitheatre vineyard just next to the cellars. There is fabulous structure here, with intense orchard fruit, and a weighty palate with plenty of dry extract and vibrant freshness. Serious stuff, and not to be underestimated.

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de l'Arlot Blanc 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet showing white flower/dandelion, Golden Delicious apple and light honeysuckle aromas that gently unfold in the glass. The palate is well balanced and displays the waxy texture that I found on the domaine’s other whites this year. There is a touch of textural creaminess, and suggestions of stem ginger toward a finish not far removed from a Corton-Charlemagne.
