2018 Rully Blanc Maizières, Domaine Dureuil-Janthial

This substantial vineyard lies in the heart of the appellation, and no wonder Vincent Durueil has chosen to isolate it for its own cuvée. Pithy and textured with the grip and poise to put many Côte d’Or whites to shame. It is less exuberant than the blended Rully, and the 20% new oak is judged so well here, chiming with the taut, scintillating fruit.

2018 Rully Blanc Maizières, Domaine Dureuil-Janthial
Domaine Dureuil-Janthial

“If I see his name on a wine list, I don't give it a second thought and simply order his wine” - Jean-François Coche. This is high praise indeed, even if Vincent Dureuil-Janthial is widely regarded as the Côte Chalonnaise’s preeminent winemaker. The organic 20 hectare domaine in Rully is a rare find, too, in that it produces both reds and whites of equally outstanding quality. Vincent is as celebrated by the critics as by his peers, and the domaine is building a serious, and well-deserved following.
