2014 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Patrick Javillier

Only acquired by the Javillier family in 2000, this south-facing vineyard requires careful attention for fear of an overripe wine. In 2014 these kid gloves have paid dividends, with a restrained, elegant expression of this great vineyard. A nose of lemon, green apple, white flowers and crushed stones has roundness and refinement, whilst the lick of oak spice adds complexity and depth. Ripe, zingy and mineral, a real success.

2014 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Patrick Javillier
Domaine Patrick Javillier

Patrick Javillier began working in wine in 1974 and now, his daughter Marion produces an exceptional range of white Burgundy from Meursault and beyond, with her proud father close by. The esteem in which their estate is held is even more impressive considering their low holdings in 1er and grands crus. But this is indicative of their approach: they ensure every cuvée, from Bourgogne Blanc upwards, fulfills its potential.
