If you look on a map Les Combettes is level with Batard-Montrachet, giving a hint as to the quality to be expected. This is a more masculine style than Jean-Marc's other wines, and whilst slightly closed at the moment, there is a real density. That said, there is great acidity meaning that it freshness and vibrancy is not lacking. Those comparisons with Batard aren't far wrong!
