This cuvée is the main reason we started buying the wines from Marchand-Tawse. It is a winner every year. Its usual high proportion of whole-bunch (60%) is applied even in 2024, which results in a tender and delicious blackcurrant fruit core. The vineyard sits just below Clos St-Denis, and next to Faconnières, in the heart of the village.

The 2024 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes 1er Cru feels a little stilted on the nose at the moment, the 50% whole bunch maybe just a little too dominant, but I think here it will eventually integrate. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins, fine acidity, nicely poised, though just missing a little complexity and grip on the finish. But it has easy-drinking allure.
