The beating heart of the domaine lies in this small monopole vineyard, just opposite their cellars in Premeaux-Prissey: Clos St Marc. In 2024 there wasn’t enough volume to stand alone, so Maxine blended it with fruit from neighbouring Argillières and Haut Pruliers. As ever, we see Nuits outshining some of Chambolle and Vosne’s finest sites. It has a long, sinewy tension, with remarkable depth, and an expansive feeling across the palate. Truly sensational.

The one-off 2024 Nuits Saint-Georges Tête de Cuvée 1er Cru is a blend of 10% Les Haut Pruliers, 50% Clos des Argillières and 40% Clos St. Marc, the latter two the sacrificed monopoles of the Domaine. This has fine intensity on the nose with blackberry, black cherries, touches of blueberry and violet, leaning towards Vosne-Romanée in style. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, fine acidity, quite vivacious with a very pure black cherry and cassis-tinged finish with touches of white pepper. I think this was a wise decision to make seven barrels of this cuvée - it is absolutely delicious.
The 2024 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru was showing a little reduction on the nose but there is clearly more fruit intensity than the Village Cru, iris flower scents emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chalky tannins, fresh and tensile with a twist of blood orange on the finish. Just a little bitter edge here, so give it some time in bottle.
