2024 Santenay 1er Cru Beauregard, Justin Girardin

2024 Santenay 1er Cru Beauregard, Justin Girardin

Beauregard is one of Santenay’s finest premiers crus, lying at the eastern end of the village, near the border with Chassagne. It’s a particularly picturesque site, with a windmill in the vineyard - a good indication there is a steady breeze here, helping to keep the fruit cool as it matures, and particularly useful in the wet 2024 vintage. The limestone soil gives the wine a freshness and acidity. It’s got an excellent density of juicy red fruit.

Tasting notes

A denser purple, less expressive on the nose. A cool but darkish raspberry, less in fresh fruit mould. Maybe a touch more volatile, though well within limits. Plenty of fruit weight at the finish. Drink from 2028-2032. Tasted Oct 2025.
