2024 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Aigrots, Michel Lafarge

2024 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Aigrots, Michel Lafarge

Cellar Circle Exclusive

Although their home village of Volnay is what many people think of when they hear the Lafarge name, their noble Beaune holdings are equally highly regarded. This is fine-boned, with grip, focus and fabulous tension, and will make fine old bones.

Tasting notes

The 2024 Beaune Clos des Aigrots 1er Cru comes from a single parcel of which one-quarter is planted with white and the rest replying to the name Pinot. This has a well-defined bouquet with bright redcurrant and cranberry fruit, just a light touch of forest floor. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chalky tannins (not as "crunchy" as others), a touch of sour cherry mixed with strawberry gaining a little more rondeur as it glides towards its unprepossessing finish. Very fine.
