2024 Volnay, Michel Lafarge

2024 Volnay, Michel Lafarge

Cellar Circle Exclusive

For many, Lafarge is Volnay. This is a blend of their lower-lying parcels of village Volnay, four of which lie on the Pommard side, and two on the Meursault side. This wine is always elegant and perfumed, with an expressive silky frame. The fruit spectrum is distinctly red here, and the wine feels poised and sweetly ripe, whilst remaining taut and fresh.

Tasting notes

Made from 10 plots including the four from the usual Vendanges Sélectionées bottling which was not made this year. A good crimson to ruby. The flavours are clearly ripe just to the degree of the good old days, fills the mouth just exactly right, enough acidity, refined tannins and perfectly balanced finish. I have fallen in love with this. Absolutely 100% Volnay. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted Oct 2025. 5 stars.
