2024 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, Domaine Bruno Clair

2024 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, Domaine Bruno Clair

Cellar Circle Exclusive

This is a Bonnes Mares of distinction: it is the only part of the vineyard to fall within Morey-Saint-Denis (the rest is in Chambolle-Musigny). It is opulent and inviting on the nose, with a tender and deeply concentrated core. It is one of the most delicate iterations I’ve tasted from the Clairs, meaning it should open up in bottle ahead of previous vintages. However, its complexity and length assure me it will evolve well over time as well, so no need to rush if you can resist.

Tasting notes

The 2024 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has an expressive, transparent bouquet with perfumed strawberry and raspberry scents, the 30-40% whole bunch completely subsumed by the fruit which is always a good sign. The palate is framed by filigree tannins, perfectly pitched acidity, very elegant in style, gentle grip with an almost pixelated finish that lingers temptingly in the mouth. What a fabulous Bonnes-Mares in the context of the growing season - certainly on par with the previous vintage. Just a gorgeous Bonnes-Mares in the making.
