2023 Marsannay, Marchand-Tawse

2023 Marsannay, Marchand-Tawse

This is drawn from a couple of parcels on the south side of the commune towards Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin. In 2023, 35% whole-bunch gives the fruit a bright, crystalline, sapid quality, reminiscent of cranberries and pomegranates. There is some brambly, structural tannins typical of the village on display.

Tasting notes

The 2023 Marsannay Village has an open and pretty bouquet that eschews the blue fruit tones one typically finds in this appellation with more transparent red fruit aromas. This has fine delineation. The palate is well balanced with sappy red fruit, good substance and a keen line of acidity. It's cohesive toward the lightly spiced finish. This is definitely worth seeking out.

From En la Poulotte (Couchey) and the better-known Les Longeroies, half and half. Mid ruby colour. The nose offers a very elegant floral pinot, there being a proportion of whole bunches. Lifted with light cherry fruit and a touch of orange zest. Given the lightness of tread of this Marsannay, there is delicious persistence. Drink from 2027-2030. Tasted Nov 2024.
