2023 Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru, Domaine Jean-Marc Millot

2023 Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru, Domaine Jean-Marc Millot

Cellar Circle Exclusive

In spite of appearances, Grands-Echézeaux is much smaller than Echézeaux, and its wines much rarer. In the right hands, it often holds the edge in terms of quality. Where the rest of Alix’s 2023s are structured and handsomely muscular, this is refined and ethereal. Up there with the best in 2023.

Tasting notes

A blend from Echezeaux du Dessus and Poulaillères, with a little from the Clos St-Denis sector. 30% whole bunch vinification. Mid crimson in colour. Perfumed like the Suchots but with a little more depth of fruit, then plums and red berries, with good length. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted Nov 2024.

Medium deep crimson. The nose is a little more backward, so one has to searching for it. Just a sign of extreme youth. The palate offers a delicious quality of middleweight red fruit, with an impeccable bone structure and super balance. A discreet yet really fine grands Echezeaux. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted Nov 2024.
