Strictly limited to 6 bottles per customer Fixin doesn’t have any Grand Crus, but in Amélie’s eyes, this is the greatest site in the village. It has very shallow soils, and the vines, now aged 30-80 years old, dig deep. The wine is fragrant and dancing, with agile freshness and sweet energy. Defined, characterful, and the work of a winemaker at the top of her game.

The 2023 Fixin Les Arvelets 1er Cru, raised in around 20% new oak and completely destemmed, presents a very mineral-driven bouquet, with crushed limestone filtering through red berry fruit and a touch of graphite emerging with aeration. The medium-bodied palate offers sapid red berry fruit and gentle grip, with less sucrosity and a bit more grip than the Fixin Village cuvées. It is a little conservative on the finish, but Berthaut mentioned it's due for imminent racking.
Deep red purple. Some reduction, which she knows about, and is therefore about to rack the wine. It is not too firmly established, and there is a fine fruit both red and darker on the palate, with a long finish. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Nov 2024.
