2023 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes, Gilbert et Christine Felettig

2023 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes, Gilbert et Christine Felettig

The 70-year-old vines planted on the poor, stony limestone soil of Les Charmes make for a structured mineral and very long wine in 2023. It’s 40% whole bunch this year with a very seductive and alluring nose. There is depth and complexity from the older vines that give it the structure to be enjoyed for a long time.

Tasting notes

The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru showed a little less reduction on the nose. It has attractive cranberry and tayberry scents and the 40% whole bunch imparts a subtle pepperiness. The delineation is fine. The palate is medium-bodied with finely interwoven tannins. It is very poised, with heightened mineralité here and a persistent finish that lingers. Quite classically styled, this is a Chambolle with oodles of panache.

30% whole bunches. A fine fresh mid purple. The bouquet is bursting with lively fruit, raspberry with a hint of strawberry. The Charmes has a firmer structure, from old vines that didn’t yield above 30 hl/ha. A more muscular style of Charmes, with slightly more tannins. Drink from 2020-2037. Tasted Dec 2024.
