This is the historic flagship monopole of the domaine, and lies just outside the cellar door. Its distinctive amphitheatre shape is planted with some very old vines, meaning production is low, even in more plentiful years. 2023 was a spectacular vintage, there is both freshness and concentration of fruit as well as a savoury element. The wine is aromatically complex, gourmand and delicate at the same time, with a spiced, rose-petal character drawing you in. Ethereal.
The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de l'Arlot 1er Cru has a vibrant bouquet that one might mistake for containing some stems—slightly darker fruit, with a touch of seaweed. The palate is medium-bodied with a saline entry, very well balanced and elegant in style, with a harmonious and persistent finish. Quite seductive.
A paler colour with an orange tint to the crimson, typical of this vineyard. A fine lively fruit, with blood orange in the background. This is a very classical reading of the terroir, with a long gracious finish and adequate structure. On the airy side for Nuits. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Nov 2024.
