2023 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, Domaine Arlaud

2023 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, Domaine Arlaud

This comes from the very highest point of Mazoyères-Chambertin, which can also be labelled as Charmes-Chambertin. It has a sensational volume with a crystalline purity driving through the intricate, lacy finish.

Tasting notes

The 2023 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru offers a delineated and focused bouquet with black cherries, blueberry and subtle peppermint scents. It is a little "hemmed in" at the moment but will flourish after bottling. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe black fruit, quite sweet and a little candied toward the finish. This is perhaps destined to be the earliest of Arlaud's Grand Cru in terms of drinking window. Fine.

Bright fresh purple. The nose has just a suggestion of chocolate on top of the raspberries. There is plenty of energy here on the palate, now some ripe cherries, not the most concentrated but with a fine long aftertaste. Has me reaching for another taste! Drink from 2033-2040. Tasted Dec 2024.
