This vineyard sits just below Clos St-Denis, in the heart of the village, and offers up a deep and textured expression of Morey-St-Denis. It is expressive, with creamy red fruit (and a hint of dark cherry) leading the wine. This is really great in 2023, it offers up a balanced, silky length of great distinction. With some time in bottle to take on a little more weight and precision, this could be the dark horse of the stable.

The 2023 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes 1er Cru offers a well-defined bouquet with touches of crushed stone infusing the red fruit, becoming more floral with aeration. The medium-bodied palate features plush tannins, good body and ample depth. There is a little sinew toward the close, perhaps at the expense of finesse, though it finishes long. Give this a couple of years in the bottle.
Not too deep in colour, an even crimson ruby. Very much a red fruit nose as well, actually this is quite striking and very well poised. Fills the mouth, discreetly, then develops further depth of fruit at the back of the palate, as well as showing a little oak. I think this will emerge as a very successful 2023. Drink from 2030-2036. Tasted Dec 2024.
