2023 Santenay 1er Cru Beauregard, Justin Girardin

2023 Santenay 1er Cru Beauregard, Justin Girardin

Beauregard is one of Santenay’s finest Premiers Crus, lying at the eastern end of the village, near the border with Chassagne. It’s a particularly picturesque site, with a windmill in the vineyard - a good indication there is a steady breeze here, helping to keep the fruit cool as it matures. The limestone soil gives the wine a chalky freshness and acidity, particularly useful in warmer years. It’s got a deep colour and a dark, concentrated fruit profile. Really great value.

Tasting notes

A deep purple centre with ruby rim. Firm fruit with a slightly reductive character on the nose, impressive density with a fine balance between fruit tannins and acidity, lively raspberry, a little cherry and redcurrant. Persistent finish. Drink from 2027-2032. Tasted Nov 2024.
