Tasting notes

The 2023 Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from the usual two parcels (farmed by their cousin Pascal Mugneret), and matured in 60% new oak. It has a gorgeous, pure bouquet, perhaps the most floral of the Domaine's nascent 2023s, as the 25% whole bunches impart a slight pepperiness. The palate is medium-bodied with wonderful poise and elegance, filigree tannins and real transparency on the finish. This will put on a bit of weight by the time of bottling. Excellent.

A fine deep purple. The bouquet is stunning. Floral does not describe the intensity, with a beautiful lift maybe assisted by 12% whole bunches. Well harnessed sensuality, never losing sight of the essential delicacy of this appellation. The oak is well harnessed too and the length sublime. Sign me up! Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted Nov 2024. Five stars.
