Tasting notes

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru, matured in 40% new oak, offers darker fruit than the other cuvées from the appellation. It is more marine-influenced with light chalky scents. The silky-smooth palate is medium-bodied with moderate depth, more easy-drinking and open than the 2022 with a touch of white pepper on the finish. Charming (as usual).

A more concentrated dark crimson colour, with a bouquet well in reserve. A delightful swelling of the fruit on the palate, dark strawberry softness but adequate grip behind nonetheless, with just enough acidity to help prolong the finish. The residual perfume is delicious. Drink from 2030-2036. Tasted Nov 2024.
