2023 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Aigrots, Michel Lafarge

2023 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Aigrots, Michel Lafarge

Cellar Circle Exclusive

Although their home village of Volnay is what many people think of when they hear Lafarge, their noble Beaune holdings are equally highly regarded. This Beaune leads with darker cherry fruit, with fine-grained sinewy tannin with a certain boldness and earthiness too. Really expressive and accessible even at this early stage but with plenty of stuffing for the long-haul.

Tasting notes

The 2023 Beaune Clos des Aigrots 1er Cru was around 85% through its malo. The aromatics appear sound with energetic scents of black cherry and raspberry. The palate is well balanced with good tension, fresh and vibrant with a touch of blood orange on the finish. This has good potential.

10% new wood. This is very classy, a much more fine-boned white fruit, a few fresh apples though of course there is also a creamier aspect to the whites in 2023. Plenty of energy at the back, a nice blend of characters. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Dec 2024.
