2023 Vosne-Romanée, Jean Grivot

2023 Vosne-Romanée, Jean Grivot

This wine is made from a blend of thirteen different parcels across the village, and the result is a wonderfully complete and complex portrait of Vosne. This offers fruit and fragrance in equal measure with aromas of violets, and ripe cherry notes with hints of pomegranate. The texture is silky with a vibrant line of acidity.

Tasting notes

The 2023 Vosne-Romanée Village is quite understated on the nose. Forest floor scents mix with incense as red berry fruit tones gently unfurl in the glass, though it doesn't make too much of a fuss. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, pretty red fruit mixed with blood orange on the entry and moderate weight. It is finely balanced with a dash of white pepper on the finish. Give this a couple of years in bottle and you'll have a lovely Vosne Village on your hands.

More of a garnet to crimson colour. The fruit is not immediately so flamboyant. A strawberry or two perhaps. The village Vosne is on the softer side but none the less very agreeable and the fruit builds to the back. Now more alpine strawberry, this is growing in the glass. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Nov 2024.
