In 2023 the vines celebrated their 102nd birthday (not that anyone’s counting), and lay claim to being the oldest vines of the domaine. Whilst their home village of Volnay is what many people think of when they hear the name Lafarge, their noble Beaune holdings are equally highly regarded, with Grèves the finest. This is quite simply a brilliant wine. Intense, profound and seamless with a focus that drives through the palate. Don’t miss this in 2023.

Tasting notes

Just finishing malo. The 2023 Grèves includes the 8-year-old plot with the 100+ old vines. The young refresh the old and the old teach the young. A lovely fresh purple. What energy! A little bit of bramble to this. Fine structure. All will come together and harmonise. Very promising. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted Dec 2024.
