The Reignots vineyard sits on the steep incline of the hill as it rises up just above La Romanée. It has very thin, poor topsoil, and produces a wine with scintillating drive and precision.

The 2023 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru, raised in 55% new oak, has an exquisite bouquet that frankly puts the preceding Nuits Saint-Georges in the shade: wonderful, expressive red berry fruit, crushed stone and pressed violets, all with superb delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins. This is a little oaky at the moment, but that will be absorbed. Very fine.
The Reignots was planted in 1997 so these are no longer young vines. A fine mid ruby purple. Immediate elegance and charm. A few tendrils of oak playing around the vivid fresh red fruit. On the palate the oak also shows its presence but this will calm with time. Drink from 2031-2037. Tasted Nov 2024.
