2022 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes, Domaine Felettig

The 70-year-old vines planted on the poor, stony limestone soil of Les Charmes make for a structured mineral and very long wine in 2022.

Tasting notes

From vines planted in the early 1950s, 30-35 hl/ha. 50% whole bunch vinification. A bright and intense dark purple, exceptionally Charmes type nose with its welcoming generosity. Really kicks on behind, developing a second wave of powerful red berry fruit. It will eat its oak easily. A very impressive Chambolle Charmes. Drink from 2030-2039. Tasted: December 2023.

This year, the 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru includes 50% whole bunches. The nose is refined and composed - perhaps the most mineral-driven and complex, with fabulous delineation. The medium-bodied palate has filigree tannins, perfectly judged acidity, and silky smooth with a perfectly poised finish. Sophisticated and tensile thanks to the limestone soils, this is a great Chambolle in the making.
