2022 Chambolle-Musigny Clos le Village, Domaine Felettig

2022 Chambolle-Musigny Clos le Village, Domaine Felettig

As the name suggests, this monopole vineyard is situated in the heart of Chambolle-Musigny. At 0.5 hectares, it is the Felettigs’ largest single parcel. There’s lots of limestone in the soil here, and the 50-year-old vines dig deep. It is rich and resplendent, with a full-on torrefaction, toasty new oak nose wrapped around the floral fruit detail.

Tasting notes

Planted in 1973 and looking good. Gilbert now picks this plot rather later. One third whole bunch. Mid crimson purple. The oak is a little apparent, but the sample was taken from a new barrel. The village wines are 50/50 for the most part. Clearly the wine has considerable intensity without losing its Chambolle character. Drink from 2030-2036. Tasted: December 2023.

The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Clos le Village comes from 0.5 hectares of vine on limestone soils. With raspberry and wild strawberry on the nose, touches of white flower and undergrowth, this is well-defined and gains intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and sapid, with fine grip. Very lively in the mouth with fine weight on the finish, given a peppery touch by the 30% whole bunches. Very fine.
