This wine is exclusive to Lay & Wheeler in the UK. It is a steep site that sits right up against Aux Boudots on the Vosne side of the appellation. It has the finesse of Vosne and the power of Nuits - a pretty appealing combination. Some of the very old vines were recently replaced, and 2022 is the first vintage that sees their production return to the blend - something that Nicole says makes this a much more interesting wine now.

The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Cras 1er Cru is a little richer on the nose than the Les Suchots, offering crushed strawberry, raspberry and hints of violet. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple entry. It has fine weight, needing a touch more grip and backbone on the finish. It should be drinkable early and will give at least a decade's drinking pleasure.
