2022 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Nicole Lamarche

2022 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Nicole Lamarche

Nicole has three parcels within this grand cru, one in the northwest corner (where everyone wants to be) tucked up next to Musigny. The three add complexity and layers to the finished wine. This is a highly complete and poised wine in 2022. There’s a spiced density to the fruit-packed tannins, and a long savoury finish.

Tasting notes

The 2022 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has some of the most satisfying aromatics from Lamarche this year: a blend of black and red berry fruit, forest floor, white flowers and orange pith. There's more presence here. The medium-bodied palate has a supple entry and a fine bead of acidity, elegant in style with good persistency. It will be early drinking, but also, there's the substance here to suggest it will age well in bottle.

(91—93)/100

A lighter ruby colour. Moderately dense strawberry and raspberry pastilles on the nose. The Clos de Vougeot seems on the raw side because more youthful. The same fruit profile appears on the palate, just a little more tannic. Fair acidity and length. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted: November 2023.
