This parcel, right in the centre of the village, has been owned by the Lafarge family since 2005. It has an ideal mid-slope position, and produces a floral wine with great tension: quintessential Volnay. The 2020 is so pure and long, with a velvety structure.

The 2020 Volnay Les Mitans 1er Cru has a slightly earthier bouquet than its siblings this year, a litle more introspective. The palate is more expressive with red berry fruit, allspice and a touch of dried orange rind. There is ample energy and plenty of structure on this Mitans with a tingle on the tongue after the wine has departed, not unlike Japanese shiso leaf. This should age wonderfully in bottle.
