It’s quite a warm site, and needs to be picked early to capture freshness, which fortunately, they have, and its excellent acidity serves it well, meaning this should have a long drinking window.

The 2020 Volnay Les Fremiets 1er Cru wax picked on 26 August. It has an opulent red cherry, kirsch scented nose that would benefit from a little more delineation. The 50% whole bunch is neatly integrated on the palate, but it just misses some precision and mineralité on the finish.
