2019 Beaune 1er Cru Les Sizies, Domaine de Montille

In this cuvée, you can really feel the influence of whole bunch fermentation: sweet strawberry fruit, blueberries, and silky tannins. This is full of flavour, without a marked tannic grip. This will be wonderful from early on, all juice and freshness.

TASTING NOTES

Racked just before harvest, the 2019 Beaune Les Sizies 1er Cru has a lifted red cherry and crushed strawberry nose with touches of undergrowth coming through. The well-balanced palate offers crunchy red berry fruit, the 15% new oak nicely integrated and the 30% whole cluster imparting black pepper notes on the finish. Very fine.

Domaine de Montille

Charismatic Etienne de Montille has stewarded the family domaine since taking responsibility in 1995. With an enviable selection of vineyards, careful winemaking with the use of whole bunch altered to suit the vintage, and sensitive élévage, it’s no surprise that this estate continues to rise towards the top. With a cellar overseen by the talented, affable American Brian Sieve and his own son joining the family business, Etienne is doing all the right things to ensure the wines thrive.
