2019 Bourgogne Rouge, Domaine de Montille

This is a blend of parcels from the lower half of Volnay, and some old vines around Puligny-Montrachet. It has a juicy body with some peppery red fruit. Refreshing and balanced, it’s a lovely Bourgogne Rouge in 2019.

2019 Bourgogne Rouge, Domaine de Montille

TASTING NOTES

The 2019 Bourgogne Rouge from the domaine includes one-third whole cluster fruit, unlike the Maison cuvée, which is completely destemmed. It has crisp dark berry fruit on the nose plus just a touch of Earl Grey. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, brighter and punchier than the Maison Bourgogne Rouge, and peppery on the finish.

Domaine de Montille

Charismatic Etienne de Montille has stewarded the family domaine since taking responsibility in 1995. With an enviable selection of vineyards, careful winemaking with the use of whole bunch altered to suit the vintage, and sensitive élévage, it’s no surprise that this estate continues to rise towards the top. With a cellar overseen by the talented, affable American Brian Sieve and his own son joining the family business, Etienne is doing all the right things to ensure the wines thrive.
